Russian military authorities have announced the capture of the village of Yelizavetovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, signaling a continued push in the eastern part of Ukraine. According to a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry, units from the Central battlegroup carried out what they described as “active and decisive” operations that led to the village’s liberation.
Alongside the territorial advance, Russian forces claim to have inflicted significant losses on Ukrainian military units across a wide stretch of the region. These included mechanized, assault, and National Guard brigades in multiple settlements. The ministry stated that over 435 Ukrainian troops were killed, along with the destruction of armored vehicles, pickup trucks, and artillery systems, including a U.S.-made Paladin self-propelled artillery unit.
In coordinated air and artillery strikes, Russia also reported hitting several key Ukrainian military facilities, such as a tactical missile storage site, a drone training center, an airfield, and temporary deployment points for Ukrainian forces and foreign fighters. These attacks were carried out using a mix of tactical aircraft, drones, and rocket systems.
Further operations were reported across multiple fronts:
- In the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, the Dnepr battlegroup claimed it seized more favorable positions, targeting Ukrainian mechanized and coast guard brigades. Ukrainian losses reportedly included 70 troops, an infantry fighting vehicle, and two ammunition depots.
- The West battlegroup reported progress in the Kharkiv region, where it claimed to have dealt heavy losses to several Ukrainian brigades. According to Russian statements, up to 260 Ukrainian personnel were killed and multiple electronic warfare systems and artillery units were destroyed.
- The East battlegroup claimed it continued to push deeper into enemy lines, neutralizing Ukrainian positions in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporozhye regions. Up to 130 Ukrainian troops were said to be killed in these operations, along with the destruction of a Polish-made Krab artillery system and an electronic warfare station.
- In southern Donetsk, the South battlegroup stated that it had improved its tactical footing while engaging multiple Ukrainian units, including the Azov special purpose brigade. Up to 295 Ukrainian servicemen were reported killed, and additional losses included military vehicles, artillery systems, and supply depots.
These battlefield reports follow intensified Russian operations across the front, amid broader hostilities that continue to devastate parts of Ukraine. While the Russian Defense Ministry has presented these developments as strategic victories, independent verification of the claims remains difficult, and the overall situation on the ground continues to shift rapidly.
The conflict, now in its third year, has evolved into a prolonged war of attrition, marked by high casualties and extensive infrastructure damage on both sides. Despite international calls for de-escalation and renewed diplomatic dialogue, active combat persists across multiple regions, with no immediate end in sight.
