A massive fire has devastated the iconic main stage of Tomorrowland, one of the world’s largest electronic music festivals, just two days before thousands of attendees were expected to arrive in Boom, Belgium. The blaze broke out on Wednesday afternoon, quickly consuming the elaborate stage setup and spreading to surrounding woodland, sending thick black smoke into the sky.
Tomorrowland, which draws around 400,000 music fans across two weekends each summer, is known for its extraordinary stage designs, which often take years of planning and construction. This year’s stage was no exception—featuring an intricate, fantasy-inspired structure set to host some of the biggest names in electronic dance music.
No injuries have been reported, but organizers confirmed that the main stage has been “severely damaged.” The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though it reportedly started while crews were preparing final technical setups.
David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Eric Prydz, Martin Garrix, Alok, and Charlotte de Witte were among the headline acts scheduled to perform on the now-destroyed stage. Debby Wilmsen, a spokesperson for the festival, said the team was heartbroken. She described the main stage as the product of years of creative effort and passion, adding that its destruction has been deeply felt across the team and fans alike.
Despite the setback, Tomorrowland confirmed that DreamVille, the festival’s dedicated camping village which hosts over 38,000 people, will still open as planned. Updates about the new performance arrangements and contingency plans are expected to follow shortly.
